Dear all,
This is a new project I have been working on for some months now, following two trips in Greece I did last year with my friend and photographer Stéphane C. I then began to work with the awesome Stéphane Pigneul and Ben Mc Connell on a kind of musical Odyssey.
The band that emerged from this work is called Oiseaux-Tempête and I'm happy to share this first track from the forthcoming album: "Opening Theme (Ablaze in the Distance)"!

OISEAUX-TEMPÊTE (FR/US) is an instrumental, free rock & ambient trio formed in Paris in 2012 by musicians Frédéric D. Oberland, Stéphane Pigneul (both members of FareWell Poetry and Le Réveil des Tropiques) and Ben Mc Connell (Beach House, Rain Machine, Au Revoir Simone, Marissa Nadler).
The trio's process is interwoven with that of filmmaker and photographer Stéphane C., who travelled to Greece to document life there (an experimental documentary is in preparation). Conceived as a musical and visual project, this first album was recorded in direct reaction to videos projected in the studio space, a formula that is also carried over into a live setting, resulting an emotionally charged vision and eliciting visceral and cerebral response to the floundering failures of the dysfunctional West.
Oh. Bonus. Last week we performed a show in the beautiful St-Merry church in Paris, for the "Temps Zero" Paris edition. Eric Chenaux and Gareth Davis were there. Gareth joined us to play a couple of songs with his bass clarinet. Some vibrating moments in the church with a friendly crowd. We thought the recording of the show was fucked, but miracles do happen, and we managed to salvage a few things. So here it is, the last track of the show is now availablel to listen to, a haunted 16 minutes live version of "Ouroboros". Enjoy!
Recorded live at église Saint-Merry, Paris, by Oiseaux-Tempête on the 26th of April 2013
